Kate Lewis, M.Ed- private college counselor

 After studying college administration, student affairs, and institutional research at Penn State University, Kate started College Search Guide, LLC. Kate is passionate about working with students and families as a private college counselor to make the college planning process less stressful.

Kate is an expert in student-institutional fit, a concept which benefits students by matching their resources, aptitude, and goals to their perfect college or university. Using her skills as an institutional researcher (a data professional specializing in the study of higher education), she offers essential insight into colleges and universities, graduation rates, and financial data that you cannot find in a google search. Paired with personalized counseling tailored to each student, Kate helps students match their dream schools and the schools that help them achieve their dreams. 

 Before starting College Search Guide, LLC, Kate worked as a student affairs professional at Penn State, counseling international students and LGBTQA+ students. While working at Penn State, she created a curriculum-based peer mentor program that supported diversity and inclusion. This program was driven by a five-year grant-supported budget exceeding $100,000.00, which created three paid student positions.  Kate has also provided contracted services supporting program evaluation and impact functions with the Nation College Advising Corps, a national non-profit supporting college access for underrepresented student populations. 

When she's not meeting with students and parents, Kate is visiting and researching different campuses and participates in workshops and seminars to keep up with college admissions and financial aid trends. She frequently presents seminars and workshops on various college planning topics.
